[2025] Asakusa store
I am Okudaira, the owner of "Japanese Kitchen Knife TOKU''.
We want to sell knives made in our hometown of Sakai, Osaka, so we purchase and sell knives made in Sakai from a knife manufacturer in Sakai.
We don't just sell knives, we visit a number of blacksmiths and bladesmiths in Sakai to help our customers understand knives, experience the actual work, and hear from the craftsmen. I'm here. In addition to Sakai, we also visit Seki in Gifu, Tsubame-Sanjo in Niigata, Tanegashima in Kagoshima and Katsushika in Tokyo, in an effort to deepen our understanding of the characteristics and commitment of each.
Asakusa store
Sakaitoku Knife Shop opened a store in Asakusa on April 5th.
We carry a selection of the finest products from all over the country, including Sakai forged cutlery, Seki cutlery, Tanegashima knives, Mino cypress cutting boards, and canvas knife cases.
Sakai Cutlery carries a wide range of knives, from the relatively easy-to-purchase Kasumi knife made from Shiro-ni steel to knives made from other steel materials such as Gin-san and Ao-ni. There is a wide variety of knives available, including not only Deba and Yanagiba, but also Funayuki, Tako-hiki, Aji-kiri and Usuba.
We stock a wide variety of stainless steel knives from Seki, Gifu, the number one producer of knives in Japan.
Popular Damascus products such as the Gyuto, Santoku, and Petty knives are praised for being light, easy to hold, and easy to use.
You can also see Tanegashima knives, the only place in Asakusa where you can see them.
The knives from Tanegashima, Kagoshima Prefecture, are made of either Shiroichi steel or Aoni steel, and are known for being light and easy to hold. Because the steel used is steel, they are highly rated for their sharpness and sharpness.
In addition to knives, we also stock whetstones, cutting boards, knife cases and more.
As for whetstones, we stock a wide variety of rough, medium and finishing stones from Naniwa's Goken Arata and Goken Kagayaki series, Miyakoshi Seito's whetstones, Shapton's Blade Kuromaku and RockStar series.
In addition, our Asakusa store has a sharpening booth where you can try out the whetstones we sell. You can check for yourself how each whetstone feels to use and what kind of sharpening it will produce. I don't think there is any other store where you can try out artificial whetstones, so if you are thinking of purchasing a whetstone, why not come and try out the whetstones?
At the Asakusa store, we also offer sharpening classes and sharpening experiences.
I want to sharpen my knives, but I don't know how to do it. I've watched YouTube and tried it, but I can't sharpen it well. We are holding a course to teach the basics of knife sharpening for people like you. You can take a group course or make an individual reservation on a date that is convenient for you. If you want to sharpen your knives, please feel free to contact us.
The Asakusa store will also be holding other events such as a "Fish Filleting Event" and "Parent-child knife usage lessons," so be sure to stop by even if you don't plan on purchasing a knife.
