[2025] Asakusa・Knife store
I am Okudaira, the owner of "Japanese Kitchen Knife TOKU''.
We want to sell knives made in our hometown of Sakai, Osaka, so we purchase and sell knives made in Sakai from a knife manufacturer in Sakai.
We don't just sell knives, we visit a number of blacksmiths and bladesmiths in Sakai to help our customers understand knives, experience the actual work, and hear from the craftsmen. I'm here. In addition to Sakai, we also visit Seki in Gifu, Tsubame-Sanjo in Niigata, Tanegashima in Kagoshima and Katsushika in Tokyo, in an effort to deepen our understanding of the characteristics and commitment of each.
Asakusa Knife Store
When it comes to knife specialty stores in Tokyo, many people will think of Kappabashi.
Currently, there are over 20 knife specialty stores in Kappabashi.
In some cases, the same retailer may operate multiple stores.
Speaking of long-established shops, Kaneso, Tsubaya, Kamata, and Kamaasa are all long-established knife specialty shops in Asakusa and Kappabashi. Seisuke has been popular since before COVID-19. There are also many other knife specialty shops in Tsubamesanjo, Sakai, and Tosa.
In the midst of all this, our store, Sakaitoku Knives, started out as an online store, then held knife sharpening classes, and opened a knife store in Asakusa that also offers knife sharpening classes.
The store is not located in Kappabashi, where there are many other stores, but rather in an area close to Asakusa Station that is easily accessible to customers for knife sharpening training courses, just one minute from the north exit of Tobu Asakusa Station.
The reason why we set up a knife store and a place where you can take lessons on sharpening is that there is a demand for people who want to sharpen or resharpen their knives, but the number of stores that do this has decreased. There are still many people who want to resharpen their knives themselves. For this reason, we decided to open a store that not only sells knives, but also can resharpen knives and teach how to do it.
One of the reasons is that we do not sell disposable knives, but knives that can be used for 20 to 30 years. We will resharpen any knife, regardless of manufacturer. Of course, we will also resharpen knives that cost less than 10,000 yen. We are sure that we can return the knife to you with a sharper cutting edge than when you bought it.
Our store does not simply sell knives, but operates with the motto of providing consistent service to enable customers to continue using their knives after purchasing them.
The sharpening booth is also open when there are no classes, so you can resharpen your knives using the whetstones in the store. If you have any questions about sharpening, please feel free to ask our staff at any time.
Please visit Sakaitoku Knives, a specialty knife store that is a little different from other stores.
