Asakusa store opens on April 5, 2025!
[ 2025 ] This year's Sakai Toku
I am Okudaira, the owner of "Japanese Kitchen Knife TOKU''.
We want to sell knives made in our hometown of Sakai, Osaka, so we purchase and sell knives made in Sakai from a knife manufacturer in Sakai.
We don't just sell knives, we visit a number of blacksmiths and bladesmiths in Sakai to help our customers understand knives, experience the actual work, and hear from the craftsmen. I'm here. In addition to Sakai, we also visit Seki in Gifu, Tsubame-Sanjo in Niigata, Tanegashima in Kagoshima and Katsushika in Tokyo, in an effort to deepen our understanding of the characteristics and commitment of each.
Asakusa store opens on Saturday, April 5th
We will be opening our Asakusa store on Saturday, April 5th, 2025, right next to the north exit of Tobu Asakusa Station !
In addition to the Osaka/Sakai forged cutlery that we mainly handle, we also stock knives from Seki/Gifu and Tanegashima/Kagoshima, as well as a variety of whetstones, cutting boards, and knife cases.
At Sakaitoku Knives, we want people to know more about the knives that are all around us through the sale of knives and related products. We want people to learn how to use knives and how to maintain them using whetstones through courses and experiences, and we want to enrich the food lives of those who have purchased knives or had their knives sharpened. We believe that using sharp knives allows you to enjoy the natural flavor of ingredients and makes cooking more enjoyable.
Sakai knives are handcrafted one by one by blacksmiths, sharpeners, handle artisans, and master craftsmen. Seki and Tanegashima knives are also made by hand by artisans. We hope that you will learn about the knives around you and experience the world-class techniques and traditions of Japan.
At our Asakusa store, we have a sharpening booth where you can experience the joy and fun of sharpening your own knife to your liking using the wide variety of whetstones available in store.
Let's go to a knife store!
If you can't really tell without seeing the knife in person, go to a knife store and actually hold the knife. However, most stores won't let you try out the knife, so you won't be able to check the sharpness before you buy.
Sakaitoku Knife Shop will open a store in Asakusa, Tokyo. We will be holding sharpening classes and experiences, so please feel free to stop by if you are in the area.
If there is no knife specialty store nearby, it is a good idea to purchase from an online knife specialty store.
Sakaitoku Knives has posted a video showing the actual cutting process, so please use it as reference.
