This is a self-sharpening space with professional-grade whetstones and free use of the space for such people.
You can sharpen at your own pace on a schedule that suits you.

What is self-sharpening?

This is a place where you can casually experience "authentic sharpening," which is difficult to do at home.
You can choose your favorite whetstone and focus on your knife.
If you wish, our staff can provide advice.

・I want to try a whetstone I don't have at home. ・I want to check compatibility before buying a new whetstone. ・I've learned how to sharpen knives, but I'm still not sure. ・I want to concentrate for a long time on sharpening, but it's difficult to do at home. ・I want to sharpen at my own pace while consulting with a professional.

<How to use>
①Please make a reservation for the desired date on the reservation page below. Multiple hour reservations are possible during business hours (maximum 8 hours).
② On the day, please bring the knife you want to sharpen and a towel to Sakaitoku Knife Shop Asakusa.
3. After your tour, you can start sharpening freely with the whetstone of your choice!
④ Any whetstones used must be re-faced. If you do not know how to do this, please let us know.
Please complete the repair within the scheduled time.
If the whetstones are returned without being resurfaced, we will charge ¥1,000 per whetstone.

FAQ

Can people who have not taken a knife sharpening course take this class?

First, we will check how well you can sharpen knives. If necessary, you will be given the opportunity to learn the basics of knife sharpening.

Can I extend the usage time?

If there are spaces available, you can extend your reservation.

Can I bring my own food?

Please refrain from eating inside the restaurant.

I haven't made a reservation, but can I use it on the day?

If there are available slots, you can use the service on the day.

The sharpening was completed earlier than the scheduled time. Can I cancel the remaining time?

Any unused time from the reserved time can be refunded in one-hour increments.

What kind of whetstones can be used?

The whetstones we sell are as follows:
Please check with the store for the grit size of each whetstone: Goken Shin, Goken Ki, Blade Kuromaku, RockStar, and Miyakoshi Seito.

<About cancellations>
Cancellation is possible up until 6:00 p.m. one day before. If you cancel on the day, a 100% cancellation fee will be charged.
