More Than Just Buying a Knife in Asakusa — Learn How to Use and Care for It

Hello, I’m Okudaira, the owner of Sakaitoku Knives in Asakusa.

We offer a selection of high-quality Japanese knives crafted by artisans from Sakai (Osaka) and other regions, along with sharpening services and hands-on sharpening lessons.

Looking for a Japanese Knife in Asakusa?

Asakusa has many knife stores — but not many carry authentic Japanese-style knives (Wabocho).

At Sakaitoku, you can see and hold the knives yourself before choosing the one that’s right for you.

A Knife Is Just the Beginning

Buying a knife is just the first step.

Knowing how to use, maintain, and sharpen it will let you enjoy it for years to come.
We’re not just here to sell knives — we want to help you build a long-lasting relationship with the tools you use.

Try Our Sharpening Experience (Reservation Required)

We offer a sharpening experience where you can learn how to properly sharpen a knife using whetstones.

  • All tools are provided — knives, stones, and aprons
  • Perfect for beginners, with step-by-step guidance
  • You’re welcome to bring your own knife or whetstone

Just a Short Walk From the Heart of Asakusa

Our shop is located close to major sightseeing spots in Asakusa.
The sharpening experience is by reservation, but if we have space, walk-ins may be accepted.
Even if you’re just curious, feel free to stop by and take a look — no pressure to buy!
