Speaking of Shapton whetstones, the "KUROMARU" is famous. This is a whetstone that is harder than the "KUROMAKU" and is intended for those who are somewhat accustomed to sharpening. You may have the image that whetstones are soaked in water before sharpening, but With this product, you can start sharpening immediately by simply wetting the whetstone surface with a small amount of water. This is a whetstone made using the magnesia method. It does not come with a case like the "KUROMAKU". You will need to purchase a whetstone stand separately or use a thicker whetstone as the stand. This type of blade produces mud easily, making it easy to see where you are sharpening. The whetstone is hard, so it produces a shiny finish.
For regular sharpening, it is recommended to use #1000. If you want to use a finishing whetstone, it is recommended to use one with a grit of #3000 or higher.
